Maurten - "The Science of Sawe" - the story behind 01:59:30

Maurten’s The Science of Sawe traces Kenyan marathoner Sebastian Sawe’s landmark 1:59:30 London run and the decade-long pursuit of an official sub-two-hour marathon.

The four-day exhibition runs 24–27 September 2026 at a venue to be announced in Berlin during Berlin Marathon weekend.

A limited-edition Maurten sleeve cover of Mental Athletic is released on Friday, 25 September.

Maurten dedicates a four-day space to Sabastian Sawe, the Kenyan marathoner who became the first person to officially run a marathon under two hours. Sawe clocked 1:59:30 in London on 26 April 2026, closing a chapter that began nearly a decade earlier with Kipchoge's attempts on the barrier. The exhibition tells the story behind that time, and on the Friday evening a limited edition Maurten sleeve cover of Mental Athletic is released to the public.
