Akira x GRIT NYC Shakeout Run

An easy 5K through Central Park loosens the legs the day before the marathon. The group meets outside Blank Street Coffee on Columbus Avenue at West 69th Street, enters the park at West 72nd Street and loops the southern park past Bethesda Terrace and the Mall at conversation pace. The Akira crew took its name from Katsuhiro Otomo's 1982 manga and runs in red as a nod to Kaneda's motorcycle, and after the run it holds a swap of well-thumbed Akira volumes outside the shop. Places are limited and registration is required.
